DAY ONE

Pangkalan Bun, Kumai & First Orangutan Encounter

Airport Pickup

The OrangUtanHome team will pick you up from the airport and continue to Kumai, the riverside gateway to Tanjung Puting National Park.

Meet Your Klotok Crew

In Kumai, you will board the klotok and meet the crew who will accompany and take care of you throughout the journey.

Cruise Into the National Park

The journey normally starts around 1:00 PM. Reaching the first station takes approximately two hours.

3:00 PM Orangutan Feeding

Visit the first feeding area where approximately 5 to 15 orangutans may visit. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

Wildlife Along the River

During the cruise you may encounter birds, monkeys, water monitor lizards, long tailed macaques, proboscis monkeys and sometimes wild orangutans.

Optional Night Walk

After dinner, weather permitting, join your guide for a short walk in the forest to look for nocturnal wildlife and glowing fungi, which may appear during the rainy season.

DAY TWO

Orangutan Feeding, Camp Leakey & Fireflies

Morning in the Rainforest

Wake up to birds, monkeys and sometimes the long calls of male orangutans before enjoying breakfast and coffee.

9:00 AM Feeding

Continue to the second feeding station with the OrangUtanHome team for the morning orangutan feeding session.

Cruise to Camp Leakey

Continue upstream along the Sekonyer River. During the morning cruise you may encounter crocodiles and other wildlife.

2:00 PM Camp Leakey Feeding

Visit Camp Leakey for the final feeding session of the day in one of the most famous areas of Tanjung Puting.

Camp Leakey

Camp Leakey lies upstream along the clear blackwater section of the Sekonyer River. Wildlife in this area may include orangutans, wild boar, gibbons and crocodiles.

Fireflies at Sunset

In the afternoon, cruise toward the nipah palm area near the park exit and look for fireflies together with the OrangUtanHome team.

DAY THREE

Final River Cruise & Return to Pangkalan Bun

Breakfast on the River

Enjoy breakfast and one final morning surrounded by the atmosphere of the Sekonyer River.

Final Wildlife Watching

Cruise along the river once more and keep an eye out for wildlife before starting the return journey.

Return to Kumai

The klotok takes you back toward Kumai, marking the end of your river journey with OrangUtanHome.

Airport Transfer

Arrival in Kumai is expected at around 12:00 PM. The OrangUtanHome team will then transfer you to the airport.

Flexible Schedule

The itinerary may change depending on weather, river conditions and wildlife activity. This is their natural home and we visit as guests.
